1:8 Leadership Experience
4 Teams….1 Mission

Description:
The 1:8 experience is all about discipleship, living in community, evangelism, leadership and global missions.  Emphasis will be given on becoming the leader Christ intends you to be.  The summer will be field with teaching, training, field trips, Bible study, multiple mission/ministry experiences.  Learn from a variety of Christian leaders and from one another.

Four Teams
  1. 1:8 East: Shelbyville, KY/Russia 
  2. 1:8 Bowling Green/Southern Europe
  3. 1:8 Murray/Zimbabwe
  4. 1:8 Kid’s Camp: Mission Adventure Camp/International

Fundraising Required...Amounts will vary between teams, but will range from $2,500 to $3,500.
 
Stipend: $750 (at the end of the summer) 

Dates of summer service: May 29-July 24

Other required training events:  Feb. 4-5, 2013; April 12-14, 2013; May 29-31 Orientation

Application/Selections Process:

Selections: October 1-12 (local campus); October 20 (Statewide Selections at FBC Shelbyville)

Students interested in applying should contact his/her local campus minister.  Here are the steps you will need to take:
  • Application: Download the application, complete and email to your campus minister.
  • Four references: Please download, distribute, and collect four references and have them sent to your local campus minister via email.  You can save the reference form from this website and email them out or send them the link and ask them to complete and email to the campus minister’s email address.  They can also print the reference and submit to you in a sealed envelope.  We must have a minimum of two references at time of interview for you to be considered for this program.
  • Local Interview: Please sign up with your local campus for an interview.  These will be occurring at the time designated by your Leadership, but will be between October 1-12.  Please check for the exact interview times.
  • Statewide Selections: Students recommended by the local interview should attend the Statewide Selections at FBC Shelbyville on October 20, 2012.  The meeting will start at 9:45 am EST. If you live further than three hours away, we are happy to provide you with a hotel room the night before.  
  • Team Notification: Students will be notified of team selection by October 25. For those selected, a deposit of $100 will be due to your local campus minister by October 31 in order to secure your spot on the team.
